Timeline

How it all started

The First Bin

More than 50 years ago, Alan Rothacker ordered a Mother Bin from Four Farmers — a machine that would go on to work every single harvest until 2018.

When the time came for Alan’s clearing sale, Dunstan proudly purchased the Number 1 bin and returned it home to Kerang. Today, it stands as a lasting symbol of the durability, precision, and engineering that has consistently defined Dunstan from the very beginning.

Building Dunstan

From those early days, Dunstan grew into a trusted name among Australian farmers, recognised for bins that were strong, practical, and built to last.

While tools and techniques evolved — with laser cutters and computer modelling replacing oxy torches and sketches — one thing never changed: a commitment to creating bins that perform season after season. Every Dunstan bin carries the same promise of reliability and strength in the paddock.

Innovation and Growth

As demand grew, Dunstan expanded its range to include super-strong Chaser Bins and high-capacity Mother Bins. Each product was designed with farmers in mind, delivering efficiency, reliability, and profitability through every harvest.

This focus on innovation and performance helped cement Dunstan’s reputation as an industry leader, with our iconic orange bins becoming a familiar sight across Australia’s farming landscape.

Leading into the Future

Today, Dunstan continues to invest heavily in research, design, and advanced manufacturing. With our headquarters and main factory in Kerang and a second site in Ballarat, we’re proud to serve farmers nationwide through direct sales and 24/7 service support.

Backed by more than 50 years of expertise, Dunstan remains committed to delivering Australian-made, world-class machinery — and to changing the way you harvest for generations to come.

Our Happy Customers

We have been buying Dunstan Mother-bins now for 28 years and believe they offer the quality and capacity we are looking for in our farming business across the country. As productivity has increased with grain harvesting equipment in the field, we have had to match that extra capacity with our paddock storage and our ability to move grain more efficiently to depot or to on farm storage.

Dunstan chaser and mother-bins have been a big part of that journey to store and shift more grain over a longer period at scale. We expect that the equipment is reliable, efficient, easy to maintain and has good resale if we need to upgrade the bins at any time.

Dunstan has delivered on all those expectations and more. Our partnership with Dunstan started back in the late 1990s and continues onto today.

Stephen Buchanan

VIC

We really love the design, ease of use, robust build and finish of the Dunstan Chaser Bin, when we were looking to upgrade there was no comparison. When we needed a second bin we didn’t look anywhere else. The sales and service support is phenomenal. Would, and have bought again.
